‘Get Set 4 PE’, our PE curriculum, offers high-quality lesson plans to support and develop staff to ensure high quality teaching. It is designed to inspire all pupils to develop a love of physical activity, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead healthy, active lives. We believe that high-quality physical education is essential in promoting physical and mental well-being, fostering resilience, teamwork, and a lifelong commitment to an active lifestyle.
At Blowers Green, we have developed an all-inclusive range of sporting opportunities, in school and in extra-curricular groups such as: football, netball, cricket and multi-skills, that offer our children a wide variety of opportunities to access sports that they may not have access to outside of school.
We have achieved the Gold Standard for The School Games Mark for the second consecutive year; an incredible accomplishment that reflects our commitment to promoting physical education and sports within the school community.
Physical Education at Blowers Green is provided through a broad and balanced curriculum of physical activities including gymnastics, dance, athletics, games, swimming and outdoor adventurous activities. We aim to provide two hours of curriculum PE a week. The curriculum for PE is delivered throughout the whole school. Various sports are revisited to keep the subject ‘warm’, allowing children to refine and further their skills that they have previously learnt. This ensures opportunities for children to transfer skills from one activity or sport and relate it to another, always building upon prior knowledge and understanding to build and strengthen the children’s schema. Specialist coaches and class teachers use the ‘Get Set 4 PE’ teaching resources to deliver engaging lessons, driven by a clear progression in knowledge and skills. We provide swimming for children in Years 3 and 4. The children also learn about safety in the water.
The PE curriculum is further enhanced by the dedication to lunchtime and after school sports clubs and further implementation of sporting tournaments with local primary schools. We have guest sports people into school to share their experiences and inspire and motivate pupils.
At Blowers Green, our PE curriculum ensures that all pupils develop fundamental movement skills, a love of physical activity, and an understanding of the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle. Through high-quality teaching and varied sporting experiences, children make clear progress in their physical abilities, teamwork, and confidence.
By the time pupils leave Blowers Green, they will have:

- Participated in a Broad Range of Sporting Experiences – All children will have taken part in school-based sports, extracurricular clubs, and inter-school competitions, ensuring they experience a variety of sporting opportunities.
- Developed a Lifelong Enjoyment of Physical Activity – Pupils will be inspired to continue participating in physical activity beyond primary school, equipped with the skills and confidence to engage in a healthy, active lifestyle.
The impact of our PE curriculum is measured through ongoing assessment as learning, pupil engagement in lessons and extracurricular activities, participation in competitions and pupil voice feedback. Assessment is in essence a conversational routine. By providing an inclusive and engaging PE curriculum, we ensure that all pupils make excellent progress in their physical development and understand the lifelong benefits of staying active.
