Everyone at Blowers Green Primary is bursting with pride as we celebrate the wonderful achievement of Zera, whose confidence, determination and love of poetry took her all the way to the national stage as a finalist in the 2026 Poetry By Heart National Competition.
Zera’s journey began here at school as part of the Dudley Academies Trust Poetry By Heart process, which gives learners the opportunity to discover, practise and perform poems with confidence. Pupils first took part in school rounds before progressing to school finals and then the Trust-wide Grand Final, where children from across Dudley Academies Trust came together to celebrate the spoken word.
After securing second place in the Trust Final, Zera’s wonderful performances earned her a place in the Grand Finale of the national competition, held at Shakespeare’s Globe in London in July. Competing in the Classic Key Stage 2 category, she impressed audiences with her recitations of Limericks by Edward Lear and The Secret Place by Dennis Lee.
Reaching the national finals is a fantastic achievement and a real moment of pride for Zera, her family and the whole Blowers Green community. Her dedication, courage and love of poetry shone through at every stage, and everyone at school is incredibly proud of the way she represented Blowers Green Primary so brilliantly.
